Chapter 9 Splitting Pairs


Question 1. No

4-card inside straight draw and large pair: play pairs in the back row because they represent strength and often make opponents misplay their hands.


Question 2 - No

Pair and 3-card straight draw: keep the pair because you are now risking a foul for only 2 royalty points.


Question 3 - Yes

3-card flush draw and middle pair: play the draw because it is often not good enough to win unless improved against opponent back rows. Middle or back pairs to start make it more difficult to pair the other respective rows later on.


Question 4 - Yes

Pair and 4-card open-ended straight draw: split the pair and go for the draw as chances of hitting are very high and you will get 2-point royalty payout.


Question 5 - Yes

Pair and 4-card flush draw: split the pair and go for the draw as chances of hitting are very high and you will get 4-point royalty payout.
